I live in Atlanta with my husband Fred & our 3 beautiful daughters. Their names are Yael, Leora & Noa. My oldest, Yael, has a diagnosis of “High Functioning Autism.” She was initially diagnosed with “Pervasive Developmental Disorder” at age 3. That is when our life on the spectrum began. This blog is meant to share the experiences of raising a child with autism. I share as a mother, an educator & an advocate. The name, “Puzzled” refers to the single puzzle piece, symbolic of autism awareness. It is also an honest insight into the puzzling & perplexing moments of raising a child with special needs. As with any puzzle, the picture is not complete with just a single piece. All of our daughters, our family, friends & community are an integral part of our world & our family’s story. They are the pieces that bind us together & you will learn more about them along the way as well. My daughter has autism, but I believe that all of us who are raising, loving or educating a child with any special needs, share common hopes, dreams & experiences. I hope that you will think of this blog as a safe & supportive place to listen, share & learn from one another.
